Cut Resistant Gloves & Sleeves Information

Cut resistant gloves and sleeves are produced much the same way that string knit gloves are, however they feature high performance yarns to enhance cut and abrasion resistance.

Features and Benefits

·       Knit pattern provides all the same benefits of string knits (i.e., breathability, dexterity, etc).

·       DuPont claims Kevlar® is pound-for-pound three times stronger than steel - very cut­resistant.

·       Allied Signal claims Spectra® is pound-for-pound ten times stronger than steel - the most cut resistant fiber.

·       Kevlar® gloves and sleeves provide good heat protection.

·        Dyneema is a high performance Polyethylene fiber.

·       Ambidextrous or reversible, knit cut-resistant gloves eliminate sorting problems and reduces glove replacement costs - single gloves may be issued as opposed to full pairs.

·       Spectra® gloves can be laundered to extend glove life.

·       Kevlar® gloves can be dry-cleaned to extend glove life.

·       Many styles are available with PVC, Latex or Nitrile coatings for improved grip and abrasion resistance.

·       Food processing, glass handling, automotive manufacturing, metal stamping.

·       Any application where there is a high risk of cuts and lacerations.

·       Lighter weight styles used as a glove liner to provide extra protection.

·       Spectra®/Lycra® blends provide slightly better grip than 100% Spectra® since they are less

“slick” and are form fitting.

Available Features

·       Kevlar® and Spectra® gloves are available in sizes XS-XL, as well as in light, medium, and heavy weight versions.

·       Kevlar® sleeves are available in various lengths from 10-24 inches and are made from both Kevlar® and Spectra®.

·       Kevlar® pleated sleeves and other special requests available by special order. Thumb tacks, thumb slots, and leather reinforcements are available.

·       Kevlar® sleeves with cotton liners offer improved comfort.

·       Kevlar® gloves are available in fingerless and leather palm versions.

·       Kevlar® gloves are available with PVC dots on one or two sides.

·       Spectra® gloves available in 100% Spectra® and Spectra®/Lycra® blends.

Common objections and suggested responses

“Cut-resistant gloves are too expensive.”

Employers will save more in costs associated with employee “down-time,” medical expenses, lawsuits, and workman’s compensation claims if cut problems are reduced/eliminated through the use of cut-resistant gloves and sleeves. Kevlar® and Spectra® clean considerably better than most glove styles, extending wear.
